In early 2012, we found ourselves in the deep blue waters of Maldives. Throughout a week, we woke up at six o’clock every morning for diving. Flapping like a flag in sloping waters, we watched sharks; flipped swimfins in pursuit of manta rays and whale sharks; dived into schools of fish like mischievous children and watched the hunting sharks during our night dives. We spent four hours underwater every day. Why did we get up so early?
